Nichol & Things...

First post, here goes...

Having class outside yesterday was interesting...everyone was upset about the decision regarding President Nichol and the weather didn't help much at all. Francis had already told us that if Nichol left he would follow suit along with a handful of other professors. His logic regarding not working within the walls of a building in which his teachings were not openly welcome made a lot of sense and furthered the sentiment that injustice had prevailed. Not to shed a pensive overcast on an already melancholy situation, but deterioration in certain parts of what makes William and Mary what it is will be apparent in the future. The result that we are facing today and will have to deal with for the rest of our time here will foster the creation of a perpetuating state of congress across the college campus. With the loss of President Nichol comes the loss of prestigious faculty members leading not only to obvious ramifications of such an occurrence but also a decrease in non-student support of our President and his accomplishments, which students and faculty have come to appreciate enormously.

On a lighter note, I am starting to feel like I have furthered myself in terms of the objectives for this class. I have become more comfortable with some of the activities of the course and am starting to see a good sense of community being conjured through our class activities. I can't wait to see where we end up at the end of the semester...
